There are a multitude of Vancouver winter activities that you can do on and off the slopes. Within an hour from Vancouver's downtown core, winter sport enthusiasts can explore any one of three spectacular snowy mountain settings: Mount Seymour, Grouse Mountain and Cypress Mountain.
Vancouver's trio of local mountains provides the convenience of not having to go far from the city to experience winter action.

Skiing in Vancouver
Vancouver has some of the best skiing in Canada to choose from. With 3 local mountains and Whistler only a short drive away visitors will be able to find exactly what they are looking for

Snowboarding in Vancouver
Vancouver is one of the world’s few major cities that doubles as a true winter sport mecca.
Cypress Mountain is the bigger of the 3 ski hills one can visit from Vancouver within an hour's transport from the city. With more than 50 runs, 243ha/600ac, an epic terrain park and an in-ground half-pipe, it’s no surprise that Cypress Mountain is a favourite snowboarding destination for locals and visitors alike.
All three local mountains offer snowboard rentals and lessons for all ages and abilities.

Snowshoeing in Vancouver
During the winter months, Vancouver's surrounding mountains receive several meters of snow resulting in great trails for snowshoeing
Cypress Mountain offers pristine trails, and Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour have developed snowshoeing parks.
There are a few good programs that allow beginners to catch the hang of this winter activity and space for those who just want a clear trail and open snow. Clinics and workshops are offered on Grouse Mountain and are a gentle yet fun way to introduce kids to the outdoors.
All three resorts are a short drive from Vancouver and have snowshoe rentals available.

Cross-Country Skiing in Vancouver
Just 35 minutes from downtown Vancouver, Cypress Mountain is one of the most popular cross-country ski areas in Canada, and has space for thousands of cross-country skiers in a day.
There are 19km of trails groomed and track-set for skating and classic skiing; 7.5km are lit for night skiing. The trails are set amid snow-covered lakes and forest,.
An excellent cross-country ski school is located at the mountain.

Snow Tube Park
The Vancouver, Coast & Mountains region is slider heaven!
Feel the wind in your face as you cruise down exhilarating tubing hills. Tube Parks offers great fun for the young and the young at heart. There's no skill or equipment required - just a sense of adventure and a desire for excitement.
Mountain Seymour has a separate snow-tube park. Besides the thrill of sliding down the hill in one of their specially designed tubes, tube-riders can enjoy the ride back up by their custom rope tow. Night tubing is available at weekends.
If you've never experienced snow or just can't get enough, our Cypress Mountain Tubing Park is for you. Feel the thrill of sliding down chutes in a snow tube and let our tube tow do all the work getting you back up the slope.
For those who are too small for the fun of Cypress Tube Park, they also offer a small sliding area. Bring your own sled with you. Designed for children from 3-5 yrs old. The gentle sloping run is 25 metres long with a 4 metre elevation, small enough for your little ones to walk up and slide down on their own.

Ice Skating in Vancouver
There are hundreds of ice rinks throughout the city, some of which offer year-round skating. A complete range of skating programs, special seasonal events and rental opportunities are available at affordable rates.
All rinks have rental booths where you can rent helmets and skates. And if you’re not completely comfortable skating on your own, you can take a walker that helps you glide better
Grouse Mountain's offers a 8,000 square foot skating pond. Perfect for a romantic evening for two or a fun-filled day with the kids.
